The Icelandic Health Insurance Fund does not participate in paying for the LNG EC pills.  

Guidelines & common practices

Nurses or midwives can prescribe LNG EC pills. According to Iceland’s regulatory agency, “further restrictions on dispensing and delivery apply:  one package (1 pc.) may be sold over-the-counter and it is strongly recommended that a pharmacist dispense the medicine”. Retail mark-ups on over-the-counter medicines are voluntary.
